Hundreds of central Victorians will take to the street to oppose the Liberal’s Budget on Tuesday.
The Bust the Budget rally will start at the Bendigo Trades Hall in View Street at 12pm, march down View Street and into Pall Mall before finishing outside Liberal House on Bull Street.
A collection of speakers including Shadow Minister for Employment, Brendan O’Connor MP, Labor Bendigo state Members Jacinta Allan MP, Maree Edwards MP, Amicus executive officer Ann-Maree Davis and Bendigo Community Health chief executive office Kim Sykes will take to the stage.
Afterwards, a barbeque will be held at the Civic Gardens behind the Bendigo Town Hall on Hargreaves Street.
Lisa Chesters MP said people from all walks of life will attend the rally.
“Tony Abbott’s Budget affects everyone – low and middle income families, pensioners, students, young people, the unemployed, and all who access education and health care in this country.
“It particularly attacks the most vulnerable in our community.
“Twelve months ago, one of the main architects of the Budget, Joe Hockey, came to Bendigo and opened Liberal House, spinning promises which have all been broken since.
“I, along with my state colleagues Jacinta Allan and Maree Edwards, look forward to joining our fellow central Victorians in sending a strong message to Tony Abbott, Joe Hockey and his Liberal Government that we do not support their vision for Australia.”
