Central Victorians say no to Liberal Government’s Budget

Nearly 1000 central Victorians have signed a petition which calls on the Government to reject the policies in the Budget which attack the most vulnerable in our community.

Federal Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters will raise the petition in Parliament next week.

Over 700 members of the Bendigo electorate have signed a physical copy of the petition and nearly 300 people have signed it online.

“It’s clear that people in central Victoria do not agree with Tony Abbott’s blueprint for Australia.

“This is a Budget that seeks to demolish the pillars of Australian society. It attacks the most vulnerable in our community - pensioners, the unemployed, families and the young.

“This is not the right plan for the country.”

Ms Chesters said it was disappointing Mr Abbott is trying to create a radically different, less fair Australia.

“I believe Australians deserve better - an Australia that includes everyone, helps everyone, lets everyone be their best and leaves no-one behind.

“I will continue to stand up and speak up in Parliament for Bendigo and central Victoria against Tony Abbott’s Budget of lies and twisted priorities.”
