Like many, Federal Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters is looking forward to spending a busy Easter weekend enjoying the many events and festivals across Central Victoria.
“This Easter weekend is one of the most fun social events on the Bendigo Calendar, it’s a wonderful time” Ms Chesters said.
Central Victoria has a long history of Easter celebrations with the Bendigo Easter Festival celebrating its 144th anniversary and Maldon celebrating its 137th Easter Fair.
“Central Victoria is an exciting place to be over the Easter break and I encourage all Victorians to spend the long weekend in the Central Victorian region. I will be attending events in Bendigo and Maldon across all four days of the Easter Holidays” Ms Chesters said.
“In Bendigo I will be participating in the Torchlight Procession on Saturday night and walking with the Chinese Association under the Dragon, Xiao Le Loong, at the Bendigo Easter Parade on Sunday.
“I will also be attending festivities in Maldon. On Thursday night I will be judging the Great Aussie Scone baking completion and on Easter Monday I will be attending and presenting prizes for the Easter Fair Grand Procession” Ms Chesters said.
The Easter festivals highlights the great work of the City of Greater Bendigo, community groups and their many volunteers who will give up their time to make the Easter festival a success.
As well as attending the festivities Ms Chesters will be helping to raise money for the Good Friday Appeal.
“On Good Friday I will be joining the many hard working volunteers who give up their personal time on Good Friday to give back to the community. We will be rattling tins to raise valuable money for Uncle Bobs Club, as part of The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal” Ms Chesters said.
