The Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters MP, has welcomed news that the vital upgrade to the Ravenswood Interchange will begin this year.
“I have been a strong advocate for the Ravenswood upgrade from the outset and I will not let up until work commences,” said Ms Chesters.
“The $86 million joint federal and state government project is an urgent priority for Bendigo and it’s great to see the State Labor Government and the Federal Government working in partnership to make it happen.
“The current Ravenswood intersection is a dangerous black spot. It carries a high volume of heavy vehicles and cars and there is a concerning pattern of crashes and near misses at the site.
Ms Chesters said the planned upgrade represented a huge benefit in terms of safety and job creation for the region. She said construction on the vital works must begin this year.
“This is a very important project for Bendigo and our community, and I’m delighted that so much progress has been made,” said Ms Chesters.
The latest designs for the Ravenswood Interchange will be on public display in Bendigo this weekend. Ms Chesters encouraged residents to go to the VicRoads drop-in information session in Hargreaves Mall from 10am to 1pm on Saturday.
“Having commitment from state and federal governments that this vital infrastructure works is going ahead this year is great news for Bendigo, and will have a lasting and positive impact on our region.”
