Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters is calling on the Federal Government to provide urgent support to our local early learning sector.

“I’ve spoken with childcare providers across Central Victoria who are pleading for urgent support.

Stranded Central Victorians are increasingly desperate for clarity from the Morrison Government on how it is helping them get to safety.

With borders and airports closing, airlines cancelling services, and only five days of international Qantas and Virgin flights remaining, time is running out for Australians trying to follow the Government’s advice to come home.

Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters is reminding residents to think about the impact of abuse and violence on workers in the retail and fast food industries, as Central Victorians prepare for the impact of COVID-19.

“We are navigating a new and difficult situation with many unknowns and as stores manage stock levels, I’d like to remind local residents to be patient and show respect to staff,” Chesters said.

Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters has unveiled upgrades to the vertical slide at Bendigo’s Discovery Science and Technology Centre thanks to federal funding.
Discovery received $11,000 through the Stronger Communities Program for their ‘Pimp My Slide’ project.
“This exhibit, based at Discovery, will become part of their ongoing commitment to build science capacity in both children and their families,” Chesters said.

Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters has met with members of the Kyneton District Soccer Club to show her support ahead of Thursday’s Public Hearing by the Senate Select Committee on the Administration of Sports Grants.

It comes after the club were caught up in the ‘Sports Rorts’ saga, missing out on funding to upgrade their pitch through the Community Sport Infrastructure program, despite receiving a score of 87/100 from Sport Australia.
