Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters has announced that a Labor Government will fund $125 000 for upgrades at Canterbury Park in Eaglehawk.
The funding is the final amount required to ensure the completion of new lights, scoreboard and ground audio for Canterbury Park.
“Canterbury Park is a facility used by a number of stakeholders including the Eaglehawk Cricket Club and Eaglehawk Football Netball Club and these upgrades will open the door for bigger opportunities and community events.”
“The 2019 football netball season is about to get underway and this year Eaglehawk FNC are introducing a female football team for the first time,” Chesters said.
“Lighting upgrades will give juniors and women’s sides a better chance to access the best facilities at the club as they can now operate on a Friday night or Saturday night.”
“I’m proud to announce this funding, after more than 12 years of planning and 7 years of works from the Eaglehawk Development Group, this boost brings the master plan to completion,” Chesters said.
Andrew Reid from the Eaglehawk Development Group says these upgrades will benefit a number of stakeholders and community groups.
“This funding will secure the final piece of the puzzle in the Canterbury Park works.
“The completion of the lights, scoreboard and ground audio will create greater options for the user groups of the oval and also provide extra community activities for the residents of Eaglehawk.”
“The scoreboard will be the focal point of many future activities planned for Canterbury Park, including community movie nights and proposed music events.”
“The Eaglehawk Development Group has worked with council from the planning stage and thanks Lisa Chester’s MP for taking the time to consider our project and work to securing the final funds.”
“The lighting will allow enhanced training conditions and will allow the sporting clubs to showcase teams that may not have had the opportunities previously.”
