Lisa Chesters, Federal Member for Bendigo, today attended the official unveiling of Heathcote’s RSL Hall Improvement Project.
Advance Heathcote Inc championed the project and established a Community Working Group to get the much needed upgrades funded and completed.
Over two years, Advance Heathcote Inc raised $42,000 to undertake significant improvements to the Hall’s kitchen.
A successful Federal Government Stronger Communities Programme Grant provided another $20,000 to assist with the installation of a new heating and cooling system.
Overall, nearly $112,000 was raised to complete the Improvement Project.
“I commend the hard work of Advance Heathcote Inc on their excellent work over several years to see this Improvement Project realised.
“The Heathcote RSL Hall is an important community space and the improvements ensure the ongoing versatility and usability of this facility.
“Venues such as the Heathcote RSL Hall provide communities with important opportunities for engagement, participation and belonging,” said Ms Chesters.
“The RSL Hall Improvement Project was listed in the original Heathcote & District Community Plan in 2007. This Project has been listed for ten years and was again prioritised by the Heathcote community in the development of the 2014-2017 Heathcote & District Community Plan,” said Mr Peter Maine, President of Advance Heathcote Inc.
Advance Heathcote Committee Member and Community Working Group member Ms Sherrie Coote is proud of what has been achieved.
“The end result is a greatly improved and modernised community facility to meet current and future needs of Heathcote’s cultural and social events,” said Ms Coote.
