Lending a hand for Saltworks Community Dinner

Saltworks Community Dinner, Jacinta Allan MP and Lisa Chesters MP invite the community to enjoy a meal with them and raise vital funds for the Saltworks Community Dinner on November 11.

Saltworks is a predominantly volunteer-run organisation which works alongside St John of God to provide a hot, nutritious meal for the small cost of $3 to community members who may otherwise go hungry.

A $50 dinner ticket will provide 17 meals for community members over the year. If every ticket is sold, we will have raised enough money to keep this fantastic community dinner running for the whole year.

Saltworks Michelle Rankin said the night will be an opportunity for the community to get an insight and hear more about Saltworks story.

“We are hoping this night will be a success so we can raise enough money to provide 2000 community meals to those in need,” she said.

“It costs $3 per head for the meal - less than a cup of coffee.  For some people it is the only meal they will share with someone all week.”

Lisa Chesters MP said this is an easy way we can help those who are less fortunate.

"I know from attending this dinner a few times how important it is to the people involved to keep this community dinner going."

Jacinta Allan MP said that many local people and families are finding it tough to make ends meet.

“Saltworks volunteers do a wonderful job supporting our community.

Come and join us for dinner to support the important work of Saltworks and to strengthen the support for vulnerable people in our community."
