Saltworks fundraiser hits the target

Lisa Chesters MP today congratulated the community of Eaglehawk for coming together and raising funds for the Community Saltworks Dinner.

Last night 120 people joined Jacinta Allan MP, Maree Edwards MP and Lisa Chesters MP at a typical Saltworks Community Dinner in Eaglehawk.

"We did it! Together we have raised enough funds to keep this important community dinner going for another year," said Ms Chesters

"Saltworks co-ordinator, Michelle Rankin said last night that we had raised over $7000.

Attendees enjoyed a meal to raise vital funds for the Saltworks Community Dinner.

"The $50 dinner ticket will provide 17 meals for community members over the year. Every ticket was sold which means we have raised enough money to keep this fantastic community dinner running for the whole year.

"I am so proud of Bendigo and how we continue to come together for those in need.

"We know that many local people and families are finding it tough to make ends meet. We also know that some people are lonely and disconnected.

"For some people it is the only meal they will share with someone all week.

“Saltworks volunteers do a wonderful job supporting and bringing together our community to ensure that no one is left out on their own.

"Special thanks needs to go to the organisations and businesses who supported the dinner including St John of God Pathology, St Liborious Primary School, Eaglehawk Branch of the Bendigo Bank, Bart n Print, Bendigo Anglican Diocese, 3BO, Phoenix FM, The Media Suitcase, Australian Cable Company,  Community Foundation, Adroit,  Bendigo Community Health and AFS & Associates.”
