Seniors invited to share their views on inequality

Lisa Chesters MP is inviting senior residents to share their concerns with the Shadow Minister for Family and Payments and Shadow Minister for Disability Services, the Hon. Jenny Macklin.

Mrs Macklin and Ms Chesters will co-host the Bendigo Seniors Forum at the Bendigo RSL on Friday, April 15 at 2.30pm.

“A number of households across Bendigo are doing it tough. I hear daily from members of the community who are concerned about the growth of inequality across Bendigo,” said Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters MP.

Last month Jenny Macklin launched Labor's policy paper, Growing Together.

“After a quarter-century of continuous economic growth, inequality is at a 75-year high,” Ms Chesters said.

"Seniors are some of the people most at risk of poverty. More than one-third of Australian pensioners are living below the poverty line.

“I encourage senior residents to come along to the community forum on Friday, April 15 and share their concerns with Jenny Macklin.

“It’s also a chance to hear from Jenny about Labor's plan to tackle inequality and ensure our seniors receive a fairer deal.”

Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP by phone the office on (03) 5443 9055.
