Boost for our Valued Volunteers on International Volunteers Day

More than 90 local community organisations in the Bendigo Electorate will benefit from the Federal Labor Government’s Volunteer Grants program, Lisa Chesters, Labor Candidate for Bendigo said today.

“Our volunteer organisations do such a great job in generating social inclusion, creating a sense of belonging and building stronger local communities. I am very pleased to see their efforts recognised and supported by these grants.” Ms Chesters said.

“Last month, I announced that in the Bendigo Electorate will receive more than $338,000 shared between over 90 organisations.

“What’s exciting about today is the money has started to flow with a number of the grants having already been spent to purchase of much-needed equipment and to contribute to the fuel costs of volunteers.”

“I know that Chewton community pool will receive their new BBQ purchased from their grant application this week. They are excited to have this facility for families and community groups to use this summer”

“The successful volunteer organisations have each received between $1,000 and $5,000 to help them to continue to provide services which make a significant social and economic contribution to society.

“I congratulate the successful organisations on their community spirit, and urge all volunteer organisations to consider applying for funding in the next round of grants.
