Number one ticket holder of the club, Lisa Chesters MP, is encouraging football fans and Bendigo locals to cheer on the Bendigo Thunder this Saturday (9th July) from 5:30pm.
Ms Chesters said “it's wonderful and exciting that Bendigo’s only senior women’s Australian Rules Football team, Bendigo Thunder will get to play on the iconic QEO this weekend.”
There has never been a better time to get involved with women’s footy, as participation numbers increase and the AFL looks to launch a National Women’s League in 2017,” Ms Chesters said.
"It's is really important we as a city get behind the Bendigo Thunder. This team is a real asset to our city and I am very proud to be a part of it.
"The Bendigo Thunder are undefeated so far this season and we have more members and supporters than ever before. We want to see that success on and off the field continue.
“Women's footy is getting bigger and better every year and this is a really good opportunity for people who are not yet involved to jump on board with Bendigo's only senior women's football team.”
Lisa Chesters MP encouraged everyone to come along and support their local women’s footy team.
"It will be a great evening of footy and this game will be a showcase event for local women's footy. It was not that long ago that women had to stop playing football once they reached a certain age.
"For any family with a daughter playing footy, come and check out the Bendigo Thunder. We really want to see some new faces come along and find out what women's football is about.”
