New Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters MP, is keen to find out firsthand how she can help the people in her electorate.
So much so, she’s taking a day out each month to walk in someone else’s shoes.
Ms Chesters will kick off the “A Day in Your Shoes” project by visiting a number of mental health services on Wednesday.
She will shadow staff throughout the day, attend handover in the morning and sit in on a clinical team meeting.
Ms Chesters said the aim of the project was to learn about the organisations, the challenges they face, and how Government can better support them.
“A Day in Your Shoes is a way for me to get out in the community and find out exactly what support central Victorian organisations need,” she said.
“I will be visiting places such as Mind, who do an incredible amount of work in our community.
“It’s also a way for me to find out how we can better assist the people who are accessing these services.”
