Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters has launched a survey to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic across Central Victorian businesses.
“We know many businesses across our regional have closed, reduced hours or laid off staff because of the pandemic.
“I’m keen to find out how businesses are navigating the Federal Government’s stimulus packages and to provide support to those who need it.
“I head back to Canberra next week for the first time since having my daughter and I’m determined to continue to fight for Bendigo and the issues affecting locals the most.
“A number of employers and workers have contacted my office to say that they’ve identified gaps in the JobKeeper program.
“Some businesses aren’t sure if they qualify but what to do the right thing by their staff. Others don’t have the cash flow required.”
“It’s important that the correct measures are in place for central Victorian businesses to remain open, or to reopen, after the shut down.
“From restaurants and retail outlets to manufacturers and gyms, it’s more important than ever that we back local businesses.
“I also want to know what other support they may need or if they have any ideas on how we could assist local businesses and their employees at this very difficult time.
“I’m committed to the long-term prosperity of local small business. Feedback is essential so I can continue to lobby for the best support.
