CHESTERS RETURNS TO CANBERRA FOR 2023

06 February 2023

Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters has returned to Canberra for the first parliamentary sitting week for the year.

The Federal Labor Government has hit the ground running in 2023. There is a great amount of work to do.

In 2023, so many of our reforms become reality.

Cheaper medicine took effect on 1 January.

Cheaper child care will benefit 1.2 million families from 1 July.

180,000 fee-free TAFE places will be available to ease skill shortages and help more Australians train for good jobs.

Work will begin on new renewable energy projects started including in the Bendigo Electorate. This work will create jobs, boost communities, and make sure Australia has a secure, reliable energy supply.

This year will also see Australians have their say on Constitutional Recognition for our First Nations and Voice referendum.

It is something that should be above politics – and we will work with anyone that wants to bring our country together and create a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

Quotes attributable to Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters

“As your federal member, I’m heading back to Parliament with a list of key projects and issues to advocate on.

“I know the cost of healthcare is an ongoing issue for many local residents. I’m looking forward to speaking with the Health Minister to find out more about the Medicare Taskforce and where the funding will go.

“The soaring cost of living is something that is continuously raised with me. I know things are tight for many for local household budgets. We will continue to work on ways to ease the pressure.

“I’m proud to be your voice in Parliament and will continue to work with the region to represent locals in the best way possible."
