PepperGreen Farm’s kitchen will get a much needed upgrade thanks to a $12,500 grant from the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program, Lisa Chesters announced today.
Ms Chesters congratulated Access Australia Group, saying the project was an extremely worthy recipient.
“I commend the hard work of the Access Australia Group on their excellent and innovative application which will ensure PepperGreen Farm’s Community Veggie project will continue to operate into the future.
“The Community Veggie project is a wonderful initiative which creates a sense of belonging and social inclusion for the supported workers, volunteers and broader Bendigo community.
“There are so many benefits to employing a person with a disability. Having a job is important for wellbeing and confidence.
“It also offers local Bendigo residents the opportunity to purchase affordable fresh vegetables.”
Ms Chesters said the project improves local community participation, cohesion and contributes to Bendigo’s vibrant community life.
Bendigo Access Employment is one of 10 organisations who have received a total of $150,000 through the program, to be put towards $2,836,764.00 worth of community-based projects.
“It's vital that our Government demonstrate strong commitment to supporting regional infrastructure, programs and events.”
